Thank you

This is it! Tonight is my last official post for EME6414, Summer 2023. What to write about? If you had asked me a few hours earlier, my honest answer would have been "no idea". It's not I don't have anything on my mind (I may have too much actually), but I was not sure how to approach this last post. So, I've decided I'll do just as usual and draw a few personal reflections. To help me tackle this last challenge, I went back to Canvas and get an overview of our Modules Main Page. Gosh, what a journey it has been! The first image that comes to my mind is the iceberg metaphor. You know, this impression that for years, you had been exploring the World Wide Web with confidence, as if you were in your own neighborhood, with your own habits, hanging out with the same people, getting what you were looking for, not less, not more. And one day, you realize that you were just scratching the surface and that a whole world was lying underneath, inviting you to a whole new

Planning Week 13

As I just hit the Submit button for our last assignment, I feel a bit lost. Those past few days, it seems everyone has left the city to enjoy a well-deserved break, and the Summer vibes are not helping to focus on the last items to check on my FSU list for this semester. I am this kind of paradoxical individual who likes having flexible working conditions but also enjoys having a framework to help me keep the momentum. Now that the semester is about to end, I need to keep that momentum, one way or another. What about planning Week 13? I know I'm weird. But I'm thinking about it. A week 13. With less pressure maybe, less blogging and reading for sure, but definitely with new episodes to feed my Web 2.0 journey. I'll go back to work in 2 weeks, and one challenge when the school year starts at my university would be to experiment with what I designed during our produsage assignment. This should cover several weeks after week 12. Setting a website for my portfolio with a bloggi

Looking for my blogging style

One thing I got from this course is that social media are not what they look like. And that living and growing on Web 2.0 is much more complex than it seems. At least when you're reflecting on your actions and what you want from your digital self. That's what I did this summer. While experimenting with new tools, and initiating myself to new skills, I reflected on each of those experiences, how it made me feel, and whether I should develop my online self and activities. Blogging was not something I had done before. I participated in threaded discussions, replied to posts on LinkedIn or Facebook, and even write a few posts myself. But blogging is much more demanding, as it requires frequent writing, replying to others, figuring out how to be interesting AND interested. We must pick the right topic, find the perfect catchy title, avoid writing endless posts that will discourage other online visitors. As we experiment, we might want to include others' reflections as well and s
